Real Estate Classes on Historic Preservation

HISTORIC HOUSES AND STYLES: BASICS FOR REAL ESTATE AGENTS
* Wednesday, 9 am – 12 pm, Nov. 18: Noah Webster House, West Hartford
This three-hour course offers agents the tools they need to understand and discuss houses built in Connecticut from the 17th century to the 21st. House forms, construction techniques, technology, social trends, periods, and styles are discussed—with a focus on information that will help sell houses. Handouts include an outline, bibliography, and resources for future reference.
HISTORIC PRESERVATION: BASICS FOR REAL ESTATE AGENTS
* Tuesday, 9 am – 12 pm, Nov. 24: Noah Webster House, West Hartford
This three-hour course presents the basics of historic preservation, particularly as it affects homeowners. Topics covered include preservation philosophy, historic designations, tax credits and funding, preservation easements, and a guide to the key players on the federal, state and local levels. A short walking tour through an historic district will offer brief discussion of historic house styles and application of class material.
